She received a law degree from Universidad de Ibagué. She majored in Constitutional Law and in Criminal and Criminological Sciences from Universidad del Externado de Colombia; and a master’s degree in advanced studies in human rights from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Spain).

Her professional career began as a clerk at the Disciplinary Chamber of the Sectional Council of the Judiciary of Bogotá. In this corporation she also served as senior officer and assistant lawyer. Due to her professional skills and legal knowledge, she was appointed municipal criminal judge of Law 600 (former Colombian Criminal System), judge of the judicial circuit and in her judicial career, she was appointed Magistrate Judge in Bogotá in which she brought her work in the Judiciary to a successful cycle.

In 2013, she joined the Attorney General’s Office as delegate prosecutor before criminal judges of the specialized circuit, then she held the position of fiscal auxiliar at the Unit of Delegate Prosecutors before the Supreme Court of Justice and fiscal delegada to the District Court. In the institution, she has been part of working groups on public administration and has led teams involved in the investigation of cases of corruption in health.

Likewise, she was member of the so-called ‘Red de Formadores’ of prosecutors (Network of Trainers) to the Directorate of Higher Studies; and participated in the group that drafted ‘Guía de Buenas Prácticas’ (Good Practice Guidelines) for the Attorney General’s Office with the support of the Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training (OPDAT) of the United Sates Department of Justice.
