He received a law degree from the Universidad Militar and a master’s degree in criminal procedural law and criminology from the same university. He majored in administrative law with a diploma course in environmental crimes from Universidad del Rosario.
He worked at the Office of the Attorney General for 14 years in areas such as the Terrorism Unit, the so-called Estructura de Apoyo (Support Structure) in Arauca and Unidad Nacional de Justicia (National Unit of Justice).
Subsequently, he served as a trial lawyer, criminal judge of the Specialized Circuit on Assets Forfeiture in Barranquilla, Guarantee control judge and presiding judge in Bogotá.
In his wide experience, he was also professor on asset forfeiture issues at Universidad Sergio Arboleda and contracting issues at Escuela Superior de Guerra.
