He holds a Law degree from Universidad Pedagógica de Tunja (Boyacá). He majored in criminal law at the universities of Santo Tomás and Salamanca (Spain).

His experience in criminal law and with the Judicial Branch began in 2004 when he served as judicial assistant for the Criminal Cassation Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice.

In 2007, he joined the Attorney General’s Office as a local prosecutor. Later, he was a sectional prosecutor; and between 2016 and 2020, he served as director of the branch offices in Cauca and Medellín, in which he demonstrated management and leadership skills in complex environments and in the fight against crime.
