Regarding the information about some people whose whereabouts are unknown and published with the respective photographs in a national media on June 6th, the Office of the Attorney General informs:

  1. It is important for the Attorney General´s Office to fulfill the objective of the Urgent Search Mechanism (Mecanismo de Búsqueda Urgente MBU), which is finding alive people as soon as possible.
  2. The registries about people whose whereabouts are unknown were provided through the coordination group with the Ombudsman’s Office, where reports are received from non-governmental organizations, human rights platforms, and social networks.
  3. To date, only 84 people of 572 initial registries have not been located. Regarding these 84 requests, the urgent search mechanism remains active.
  4. More than 700 members of the Attorney General’s Office and other entities carry out investigative actions under methodological programs and searches.
  5. The Office of the Attorney General encourages citizens and relatives of people who appear in the pictures published in the media, to contact the institution through the email mbu@fiscalia.gov.co.
  6. The institution has not published erroneous or inconsistent information, but rather has conducted what concerns it by law, such as activating the urgent search mechanism to prevent the crime of forced disappearance.
  7. According to the SPOA information system, only 4 criminal complaints about forced disappearance have been filed at the Office of the Attorney General
