The Office of the Attorney General proved that engineer Jaime Eduardo Urueta Martínez, a former employee of Ecopetrol, received gifts to favor the multinational Petrotiger in a contract for testing oil wells whose initial value reached 143,387 dollars.
In that sense, the 30 Criminal Court of the Circuit of Bogotá imposed a sentence of 8 years and 6 months in prison for bribery and illicit gain.
The facts under investigation took place at the end of 2009. According to the evidence, Urueta Martínez, a production engineer in Ecopetrol, was contacted to favor Petrotiger with the addition of contract No. 4024510. The evidence allowed to know that the former employee received 35 million pesos for this illegal intervention.
