A judge in Cartagena sentenced Jorge Enrique Arnedo Julio, responsible for the murder of the principal of a school in the municipality of San Jacinto, to 36 years in prison based on the evidence provided by a prosecutor appointed to the branch office in Bolívar (Seccional Bolivar).
The incident took place on April 20, 2024, at the victim’s residence in Centro neighborhood, where the teacher’s corpse was found with hands and foot tied. The report of National Institute of Legal Medicine determined that his death was due to asphyxiation.
The Prosecutor’s Office proved that the convicted man was the perpetrator of the crime and stole the jewelry found at the property, as well as a computer and other items valued at nearly 20 million COP.
Officers from the Technical Investigation Corps, with support from the National Police, arrested the defendant during a search warrant conducted in May 2024 at a home located at a residential area in Cartagena.
The defendant is imprisoned for homicide and theft, both aggravated offenses.
This decision was appealed by the defendant’s defense.
