The Attorney General’s Office prosecuted Jonathan Andrés Duarte Torres, for his alleged responsibility in transporting 414 kilos of marijuana, inside a truck that was moving through the rural area of ​​Valle de San Juan (Tolima).

The facts took place on January 21, at a National Police checkpoint, where the officers noticed the presence of a suspicious vehicle and two motorcycles.

The motorcycle drivers got off the vehicles and shot the officers, and then fled the scene, while the driver was arrested.

After an inspection, 165 packages containing a total of 414.99 kilos of marijuana were found in the track.

A prosecutor appointed to the Directorate specialized in the fight against Drug Trafficking (Dirección Especializada contra el Narcotráfico DECN) charged him with trafficking, manufacturing or possession of narcotics. He did not plead guilty to the charges. A judge imposed a prison sentence.

Likewise, the seizure of the two motorcycles was legalized. Meanwhile, the truck was placed under the authority of the Office of the Attorney General, since it is listed as stolen.
