The Prosecutor’s Office prosecuted eight alleged members of the ‘Artemisa’ criminal gang, who would be responsible for 10 thefts in residences that occurred between December 2023 and May of this year, for an amount that exceeded 100 million COP.

This gang committed crimes in the municipalities of San Gil, Barichara, Villanueva, Paramo, Charalá, Socorro, Confines and Simacota (Santander).

During the arrest carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office, Police and the Army in San Gil, televisions, gardening items, tools, firearms, household appliances, technology and sound equipment that had been stolen were seized.

Those people who were arrested are: Víctor Manuel Ortiz Ferreira, Richar José Correa Ríos, Oscar Fabián Pinto Mantilla, Brayan Yesid Acelas and Carlos Leonel Gómez.

The Prosecutor’s Office charged them, in accordance with their individual criminal responsibilities with conspiracy to commit aggravated theft, and receiving stolen property.

The judge imposed a prison sentence.

Three other people, who were also prosecuted, did not receive preventive measures
