There is evidence that shows communications with members of the armed structure to allegedly coordinate logistical and financial support.
A prosecutor from the Specialized Directorate against Criminal Organizations brought the former mayor of Rioblanco (Tolima), Elisabeth Barbosa, and Arquímedes Martínez Díaz before a judge for alleged links with the so-called Ismael Ruíz front of the FARC dissidents.
During the investigation, it was possible to obtain communications that revealed that the female former governor apparently coordinated the delivery of money, medicines, communication equipment and all types of logistical and financial support with some members of the illegal armed group. This allegedly took place between 2020 and 2023.
On the other hand, Martínez Díaz, acting as the president of the Communal Action Committee in Campoalegre (Rioblanco) would be the link between the former official and the Ismael Ruíz front, and the person in charge of taking the aid to the determined area.
The former mayor was arrested in a joint action with the National Police in Bogotá; while the other person was arrested in Chaparral (Tolima). Both were charged with aggravated criminal conspiracy.
The defendants did not plead guilty to the charges, and they must serve a prison sentence.
