At the request of a Prosecutor belonging to the Sectional Office in Cesar twenty (20) alleged members of the Francisco José Moreno Peinado substructure of the Gaitanista Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (Autodefensas Gaitanistas de Colombia AGC) were prosecuted before a judge in Valledupar.
The defendants were allegedly involved in several homicides, illegal economic demands on merchants and transporters; as well as in the commercialization of narcotics in Valledupar, Codazzi, La Jagua de Ibirico, Becerril, El Paso, Chiriguaná and El Paso (Cesar).
These judicial actions made it possible to clarify 15 homicides committed so far in 2022.
The defendants were arrested by Technical Investigative Corps (CTI), Sijín officers, and the National Army in 41 home searches. During these procedures, three firearms, two fragmentation grenades, 25 cartridges (7.62-mm), 3 communication radios, and cash were seized.
The Prosecutor’s Office charged the accused, according to their level of participation, with aggravated homicide, extortion, conspiracy to commit a crime; trafficking, manufacture or possession of drugs, and manufacture, trafficking, or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition.
