The Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, announced the arrest of Margarito Mosquera Córdoba, alias Margarito, ringleader of the criminal group ‘Los Chacales’, for his alleged participation in homicides, displacement and extortion in Chocó.
The above-mentioned ringleader was arrested in Bahía Solano on March 14, by the Technical Investigative Corps ( Cuerpo Técnico de Investigación CTI), the Army´s Gaula and the Navy, where cell phones and cash were seized.
Mosquera Córdoba appeared in the most wanted cartel and since May 2020 he had a pending arrest warrant for the crime of rebellion due to his possible links with the ELN.
The Prosecutor’s Office is also investigating him for his alleged responsibility in three homicides, the displacement of more than 40 people, and extortion of merchants and citizens of the region, crimes that will be charged in the coming days.
This result can be added to the actions of the institution against the criminal group ‘Los Mexicanos’ which was involved in homicides, extortion, theft, and micro-trafficking in Quibdó (Chocó) in which 23 alleged members were prosecuted, including two public servants of the Governor´s Office of this department.
