The man who was sentenced for five crimes is also one of the confessed murderers of the militiaman leader Carlos Castaño Gil.
The Fourth Criminal Court of the Circuit of Medellín sentenced Óscar Darío López García, alias Osquitar or La Plaga, to 38 years and 11 months in prison for the crimes of aggravated criminal conspiracy (as leader), accomplice of aggravated murder, aggravated extortion, use of minors for the commission of crimes and aggravated forced displacement.
According to the investigation carried out by the Attorney General’s Office, since 2015 López García led a criminal organization known as ‘Curazao’ gang, which committed its criminal activities in neighborhoods Villa Santafé, Curazao and Robledo in the western area of Medellín.
The investigators established that alias la Plaga was in charge of receiving the money derived from extortions to residents, merchants and transporters in the area, of coordinating micro-trafficking activities and ordering selective murders.
