“Beginning with clarification plans and participation of the Office of the Attorney General with other State institutions means to give citizens the possibility to have a gate to criminal justice in Colombia, and to be able to coordinate criminal complaints with the investigative work and to allow people to have some certainties, some paths concerning the actions of the State” stated the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado.

Regarding sexual crimes, about 132 actions were carried out, such as interviews, identifications, and arrest warrants. Concerning domestic violence, 267 activities were carried out including indictments, risk assessments, interviews, among others.

Likewise, the Crime Prevention Program of the Office of the Attorney General, Futuro Colombia, held pedagogical sessions with more than 900 people from Paipa, Duitama and Santa Rosa de Viterbo, on issues such as domestic and sexual violence, human trafficking, among others.

This initiative, led by the national working group to prevent crimes Programa de Prevención del Delito of the Attorney General´s Office will visit various municipalities in the country to strengthen access to justice.

“You are an example for other 31 departments in this country to replicate this type of activities in all parts of the country. No more an Office of the Attorney General (…) tied to the desks. It is useless having an idea of the territories when we are far from them”, stated the Attorney General.

The clarification plan was accompanied by Futuro Colombia, Migración Colombia, ICBF, Legal Medicine, National Police, National Army, the Ombudsman’s Office, Boyacá Government, municipal mayors, United Nations on Drugs and Crime (Unodc), Ministerio de Trabajo – Ministry of Labor, municipal and rural schools.

The Office of the Attorney General will continue going across the country to offer justice to rural women, children and girls who need the institutional presence. In addition, it will carry out actions that allow the progress in the clarification of crimes that affect these people.

The Attorney General highlighted the importance of the joint work with the Superior Court of Tunja and Santa Rosa de Viterbo, and their respective magistrates.

Within the framework of his visit to Santa Rosa de Viterbo, the Attorney General Francisco Barbosa also pointed out that the work of the institution in addition to being normative is focusing on territories in order to know the community´s needs and coordinating its actions to produce results.

“Criminals do not work with a political map, criminals cross the national geography with criminal actions and now they find difficult to act because we have understood that the purpose of the Attorney General’s Office is to be in the territories,” stated the Attorney General Barbosa.
