The facts took place in a rural area of Purificación.
The Attorney General’s Office prosecuted José Adaimer Jaramillo, alias El Loco, and Jonathan Matoma Vargas, for their alleged responsibility in the murder of a civil engineer on May 26, 2018, on a farm in Purificación (Tolima).
A prosecutor charged him with conspiracy to commit a crime, homicide and trafficking, manufacture and possession of firearms; the first two offenses were aggravated. Matoma Vargas pleaded guilty to the charges.
A judge imposed a prison sentence on both defendants.
According to the investigation, the victim arrived at his farm when he was surprised by hitmen who shot him from a motorcycle and immediately fled. The engineer’s belongings and cash were allegedly robbed.
Alias El Loco was arrested on a public street in the La Gaviota neighborhood of Ibagué, while Matoma Vargas was served with the court order in Las Heliconias prison in Florencia (Caquetá), where he remains detained for another case.
