Based on the evidence presented by the Office of the Attorney General, a judge imposed a prison sentence on Carlos Eduardo Caro Herrera for his alleged responsibility in the crime of a 31‑year‑old man, committed in Sibaté (Cundinamarca).
A prosecutor appointed to ‘Unidad de Vida’ ( Life Unit ) of the branch office in Cundinamarca (Seccional Cundinamarca) in Soacha charged him with aggravated homicide and qualified theft. The defendant pleaded guilty.
According to the investigation, on December 17, 2025, at a carpentry workshop, the victim allegedly had an argument over a partial payment for a job as he had hired Caro Herrera´s services.
In the course of the incident, the alleged aggressor hit and stabbed the victim causing his death.
Subsequently, the defendant allegedly dismembered the victim’s lower limbs and transported the corpse to a rural area in Alto del Cabra in Soacha, where he left it.
Caro Herrera allegedly stole a motorcycle belonging to the woodworker, which he sold in Bogotá. He also took a cellphone, a bag with tools, personal items, and cash.
Authorities found the man’s corpse on December 18, tied up, wrapped in a blanket, and inside a plastic bag.
During a raid operation carried out by the National Police, the defendant was arrested.
