The Office of the Attorney General brought a well-known cumbia singer before a judge in Bucaramanga (Santander) since he is allegedly responsible for attacking his sentimental partner.

The Office of the Attorney General proved that the 46-year-old man allegedly subdued the victim to a constant cycle of physical, psychological, and economic violence, a situation believed to have been repeated during their four years of cohabitation.

A prosecutor presented documentation in hearings showing two episodes in which the woman was injured with a sharp object.

The first one took place in August 2025, in La Cumbre neighborhood of Floridablanca. The man checked his partner’s cell phone and, after a scene of jealousy, threatened to kill her and allegedly inflicted a chest wound.

On another occasion, in January 2026, the defendant went to Campo Hermoso neighborhood in Bucaramanga where, it is believed, he again attacked her with a bladed weapon. Timely medical attention prevented the victim’s death.

For these acts, National Police officers arrested the defendant and was placed under the authority of the Prosecutor’s Office. He was charged with attempted femicide. He did not accept the charges.

At the request of the Office of the Attorney General, the man was sent to prison.
