The victims arrived in Medellín with the intention of working in a candy shop; however, they were hold hostages in a building.

The evidence revealed that María Alejandra Brancho Sulbarán, a female citizen from Venezuela allegedly deceived young women from her country, persuaded them to travel to Colombia with false job offers, and forced them to engage in sexual activities or begging in Medellín (Antioquia).

A prosecutor appointed to the Center for Integral Attention to Victims of Sexual Violence (Centro de Atención Integral a Víctimas de Agresión Sexual (Caivas) in Spanish) charged the woman with human trafficking for the purpose of begging and sexual exploitation. She pleaded guilty to the charges. For his part, a judge imposed a prison sentence.

One of the crimes occurred between March and April 2022. The defendant contacted a young woman on social media and persuaded her to travel to Colombia to allegedly work in a candy store.

The victim and her sentimental partner traveled to Medellín. However, as soon as they arrived, they were locked in a building in the Robledo Aures neighborhood and, amid threats, they were forced to beg. One of them was forced to engage in sexual activities in municipalities of the so-called Oriente Antioqueño.

After two weeks of submission, both women escaped and denounced their alleged attacker, a 40-year-old woman.
