The Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, announced this Friday his decision to develop a new work plan related to the protection of the environment, the fight against drug trafficking and the consolidation of the strategy in the solving of cases about killings of social leaders. The above in accordance with the strategic guidelines drawn up by the Attorney General since he was appointed.
The announcement was made after a meeting between Attorney General Francisco Barbosa and the United Kingdom Ambassador, Colin Martin Reynolds.
The judicial cooperation was another topic addressed in the meeting held between the two officials. They discussed about the need to deepen the technical and judicial cooperation efforts between Colombia and the United Kingdom as this benefits both nations.
The main subject of the meeting was also the strengthening of the technical and operational capacity to clarify the crimes against human rights defenders. Recently, the Office of the Attorney General announced an increase of 59% in the clarification rate.
The Attorney General thanked the constant support of the British Government and the National Crime Agency (NCA).
The Attorney General was invited by Ambassador Martin Reynols to a high-level visit to the United Kingdom, once the adversity of the pandemic crisis is overcome, in order to consolidate the historic ties between the two nations in the framework of judicial cooperation.
