He allegedly carried out the armed attack following direct instructions of alias Richard, alleged leader of the 33rd front of the FARC dissidents
Based on the evidence provided by the Attorney General’s Office, a judge imposed a prison sentence on Rendy René Sáenz León, alias Pantera, alleged member of the 33rd front of the FARC dissidents accused of causing the death of a funeral agent, his wife and his nine-month-old son, on January 15, in La Llana de Tibú area (Norte de Santander).
A prosecutor appointed to the Directorate specialized in the fight against Criminal Organizations charged this person with aggravated homicide, aggravated conspiracy to commit crimes, and manufacturing, trafficking or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition. He did not plead guilty to the charges.
During the course of the investigation it was established that ‘Pantera’, followed orders of alias Richard, one of the top leaders of the 33rd front of the FARC dissidents, and intercepted the vehicle in which the funeral agent was transporting and fired at him. Later, when he realized that the victim was accompanied by his family and, in order to avoid witnesses, he also attacked the other occupants of the vehicle.
A 10-year-old boy survived the attack, while his parents and younger brother died.
The defendant, besides homicides, would be involved in the collection of extortion payments from merchants and ranchers in rural areas of Tres Bocas and Versalles, in Tibú.
The joint work of the Office of the Attorney General, the National Police and the Army allowed the arrest of alias Pantera in a rural area of Tibú when he was transporting in a private car with other four men, who were prosecuted for illegal possession of weapons. During the procedure, three pistols and two magazines were seized.
