The Attorney General’s Office prosecuted María Eugenia Horta de Rodríguez and Ruth Leal Horta, for their alleged responsibility in petty drug dealing in ‘comuna 7’ of Neiva (Huila).
A prosecutor appointed to the Support Structure (Estructura de Apoyo EDA) of the branch office in Huila (Seccional Huila) charged them with trafficking, manufacturing or possession of narcotics. The women, who are mother and daughter, did not plead guilty to the charges.
In compliance with a court order, the National Police carried out a home search in a property located in Obrero neighborhood of Neiva. There, the authorities found holes in the walls of the backyard, where, doses of marijuana, cocaine and coca-paste were allegedly hidden.
The defendants were arrested in the operation, in which several doses of narcotics and cash were also seized, apparently, derived from illegal activity.
The women would be in charge of selling, preparing doses and distribution of the narcotics in schools in Obrero neighborhood in Neiva.
A judge imposed a prison sentence against Horta de Rodríguez, while her daughter must serve house arrest.
