At the request of the Prosecutor’s Office, a judge imposed a prison sentence against 13 alleged members of the criminal group Los Chamos, who were charged, according to their individual responsibilities, with aggravated criminal conspiracy; trafficking, manufacture or drug possession; and use of minors to commit crimes.
During the investigation, it was found that this criminal group was selling illegal substances near schools and sports complex in Piedecuesta (Santander). For this purpose, they used the ‘mano a mano‘ method (hand in hand) and used minors to evade the controls of the authorities.
According to the investigations, the illicit trade generated monthly profits close to 25 million COP for this criminal network.
The defendants were arrested in 12 search warrants carried out by the National Police in neighborhoods such as: La Feria and Plaza de Mercado. At these places, different quantities of marijuana, cocaine, cash, cell phones and elements to measure the substances were found.
