The sentences range from 4 to 19 years in prison due to facts that took place in 2021.

The evidence provided by the Attorney General’s Office allowed a judge of the circuit of Buga (Valle del Cauca) to sentence four members of a criminal group to between 4 and 19 years in prison, who decided to sign a preliminary agreement with the Office of the Attorney General.

Those people involved were found responsible for aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime; aggravated homicide and illegal possession of firearms, parts or ammunition for private use and self-defense. Crimes that occurred in the aforementioned municipality.

The Office of the Attorney General proved the responsibility of Diego Fernando Silva Benítez, alias Diego Caballo, sentenced to 19 years and 9 months in prison; Paola Andrea Ortiz, alias Paola, sentenced to 4 years in prison; Óscar Mauricio Vélez Ortiz, alias Mauricio or El Familiar; and William Pérez Restrepo, alias Canala, sentenced to 17 years and 5 months in prison.

These people were arrested on November 16, 2022 in compliance with a court order. The arrests were carried out in Buga and Duitama (Boyacá) by members of the Technical Investigative Corps (CTI) and Sijín of the National Police.

A prosecutor appointed to the branch office in Valle del Cauca (Seccional Valle del Cauca) established that the convicted men are responsible for four homicides that occurred between April and May 2021 in the Santa Bárbara and La Concordia neighborhoods in Buga.

They must serve their sentences in prison.
