A specialized prosecutor belonging to Gaula- Sectional Office in Tolima prosecuted six alleged members of Los Churros criminal organization, accused of carrying out selective homicides, threats and forced displacement in Ambalema (Tolima).
The people allegedly involved are brothers Alex Eduardo and Kevin Andrés Hernández Ortiz, Mayra Alejandra Zapata Quiñonez, Óscar Iván Ceballo and Nicolás Silva Cano, alias Churro; and Diomedes de Jesús Rodríguez del Basto, who is deprived of his liberty for another process.
According to the investigation, between May 1, 2021, and last March, the illegal network allegedly threatened to kill the inhabitants of the Moya neighborhood in Ambalema, forcing several residents to leave their homes. The defendants were allegedly responsible for an attempted murder that occurred on April 17, 2023, and a homicide that occurred on April 14 of this year.
The Police, with the support of the Gaula from the Army, arrested the defendants during search warrants carried out in Funza (Cundinamarca), Ambalema and Ibagué (Tolima).
They were charged, according to their individual responsibilities, with conspiracy to commit crimes for the purpose of forced displacement; aggravated homicide; attempted homicide; manufacture, trafficking or possession of firearms and; trafficking, manufacture or drug possession. They did not plead guilty to the charges
A judge imposed a prison sentence against them.
