At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge imposed a prison sentence against Alexander Mazo Cartagena, alias María Monte, for the disappearance of a 12-year-old indigenous girl, in the municipality of Dabeiba, western area of Antioquia.

The investigation, that was carried out in coordination with a specialized prosecutor of the Sectional Office in Antioquia revealed that on July 14, the defendant picked up the victim on a motorcycle under the pretext of taking her to his house located in a rural area of ​​the aforementioned town.

The judicial police work allowed to establish that at around 4 a.m. the minor crossed the so-called La Llorona tunnel on board the motorcycle that, it is believed, the defendant was driving, and since that moment her whereabouts are unknown.

Alias ​​María Monte, 36 years old, was arrested by authorities of Sijín and Goes-National Police in a house in the municipality of Miranda (Cauca) where, he apparently was evading the action of justice.

During the preliminary hearings, the defendant denied his responsibility in the crime of aggravated forced disappearance.
