A prosecutor of municipality of Magangué (Bolívar) prosecuted four Police officers allegedly responsible for committing procedural fraud, ideological representation, concealment, alteration or destruction of evidence and illegal deprivation of liberty.
The decisions concern Lieutenant Luis Ángel Hernández Arroyo, Subintendant Everlides Elisa Ávila Anillo and patrolmen Luis Carlos Márquez Rodríguez and Alberto José De Voz Padilla, who did not plead guilty to the charges.
The defendants, who belonged to the Police Station in Magangué, allegedly entered two properties on May 8 without a search warrant. In one of these cases, it is believed, they illegally deprived two men of their liberty. In the second incident, it is believed, they seized two motorcycles, four firearms and ammunition, among other items.
The Office of the Attorney General, in a joint operation with Dijin of National Police established that the officers brought the arrested people before the competent authority with the argument of having arrested them in flagrante delicto. Likewise, they allegedly handed over just one of the three weapons that were seized.
In compliance with court orders, Hernández Arroyo and Ávila Anillo were arrested in Bogotá; Márquez Rodríguez and De Voz Padilla, in Cartagena.
By decision of the judge, the defendants will serve house arrest.
