These people would be part of a structure allegedly involved in the commission of crimes and coordination of activities related to drug trafficking.
The Attorney General’s Office achieved the prosecution of three alleged members of the Gonzalo Oquendo Urrego structure of the ‘Clan del Golfo’, who would be involved in a triple homicide that occurred on November 20, 2023, in the rural area Colmena, in Villanueva (Casanare).
The defendants are: Ligia Ospina Rodríguez, alias Libis, who was allegedly in charge of ordering the execution of homicides and articulating activities related to the sale of narcotics; Gilberto Echeverry Arenas, alias Pueblo; and José David Trillos Ortiz, alias Costeño, alleged hitmen of the illegal group.
According to the evidence, ‘Pueblo’ and ‘Costeño’, in the company of other armed people, intercepted two men and a woman, and shot them repeatedly, causing their death. Later, they fled the scene. Apparently, the victims were murdered because they failed to comply with the guidelines and restrictions imposed by the ‘Clan del Golfo’ in the region.
Due to these facts, a prosecutor of the so-called Grupo de Homicidios Colectivos (Collective Homicides Group) of Dirección de Apoyo territorial (Territorial Support Directorate) charged them with aggravated homicide; aggravated manufacture, trafficking and possession of firearms or ammunition; and aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime. They did not plead guilty to the charges.
Due to the conclusive arguments presented by the Prosecutor’s Office, a judge imposed a new prison sentence on the understanding that they currently remain deprived of liberty for other criminal acts.
