The defendants were sent to prison as a preventive measure.

The Attorney General’s Office, the National Police and the Technical Investigative Corps CTI, allowed the identification and arrest of Carlos Alejandro Ugarte Arteta and Kendry Aragón Amaya, allegedly responsible for the murder of two people on March 21 of 2024 in the María Paz neighborhood, in Kennedy, south area of Bogotá.

Ugarte Arteta and Aragón Amaya arrived in the company of another man to the María Paz neighborhood following instructions from ringleaders of Los Cartuchín criminal organization. Apparently, the objective was to murder two people involved in recycling activities by shooting them repeatedly.

The defendants were arrested by virtue of a court order and were brought before a judge. The Prosecutor’s Office charged them with aggravated homicide and manufacturing, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition. They did not plead guilty to the charges.

A judge imposed a prison sentence.
