The professor was found in the morning of October 8, 2023 on the banks of the river Pescado.

The evidence presented by the Attorney General’s Office allowed a judge to sentence Yibran Arnovis Imbachi Jiménez to 22 years in prison for his participation in the murder of a professor at Universidad de la Amazonia.

Only Imbachi Jiménez, one of the three people arrested,  reached a preliminary agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office and accepted his complicity in the crime, in which a reduction of his sentence was achieved.

The investigations proved that the professor was deceived with the alleged purchase of his vehicle and on October 5, 2023, when he went to negotiate the sale and he was murdered.

The facts took place in a home in Los Transportadores neighborhood, in which industrial vinegar, bleach and nitric acid were used to erase any evidence.

They also stole the victim’s cell phone, a chain and a gold ring. As well as cash and a laptop, all valued at about 90 million COP.

In his own vehicle they transported the corpse to El Diamante rural area and threw it into the Pescado river, where it was found on October 8.

The murderers then traveled to Valledupar (Cesar) in order to sell the vehicle, without success. Imbachi Jiménez was arrested later in that region of the country.
