At the request of a special prosecutor from Gaula Ariari (Meta), José Alejandro Mendoza Mendoza, 68, was arrested when he apparently tried to receive the money demanded to a merchant to preserve his life and his family.
The facts took place on July 2 in a public road in San José del Guaviare, where the detainee arrived after he demanded the victim money through phone calls on behalf of the FARC.
According to information, the detainee would be part of an organized criminal group that would be using adults to commit this crime, taking advantage of the fact that due to their age they are not sent to a prison.
The man was arrested by Gaula Group of Police in Guaviare and was brought before a court for his prosecution.
The Prosecutor’s Office charged Mendoza Mendoza with attempted aggravated extortion. He did not plead guilty.
