The defendant allegedly killed his former partner´s sentimental partner and apparently also attempted on the woman’s life.

At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge in Medellín imposed a prison sentence against Tulio Mario David Durango, 42, as allegedly responsible for killing his former partner’s current sentimental partner and attempted on the woman’s life.

The facts took place on March 12 in Manrique neighborhood in Antioquia, when, apparently, the defendant violently broke into the victims’ house and attacked them with a knife and with a stick with nails.

Jair de Jesús Cano Echavarría, 57, died in the attack and his 37-year-old partner was seriously injured. The woman was seriously  injured in her skull and neck.

One day after the events, David Durango appeared before the Prosecutor’s Office and was charged with aggravated homicide and attempted aggravated femicide.

The investigators established that the victim and the alleged perpetrator had a sentimental relationship for two years, in which the woman was the victim of a cycle of physical and psychological violence on the part of the defendant.

The defendant has a criminal record for conspiracy to commit a crime and aggravated theft, and a register for forced displacement
