The Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, will designate a technical team to know the truth of the events committed by the top leader of the Clan del Golfo.
During his visit to Montería (Córdoba), the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, made relevant announcements about the actions that the institution will carry out before the possible extradition of Dairo Antonio Úsuga David, alias Otoniel, to the United States.
In order to guarantee the truth, recognition, and reparation of the victims, the Attorney General’s office will designate a specialized team of prosecutors to bring together the processes opened against “Otoniel” and carry out interrogations.
“This person has outstanding debts with Colombia, in that sense, I am going to designate a technical team at the Office of the Attorney General, a group of prosecutors in charge of reviewing the situation of Mr. Otoniel in the country to bring together all the investigations and interrogations prior the process of his extradition to the United States”, explained the Attorney General.
The Investigations against alias Otoniel will be prioritized so that the victims of his criminal acts are calm. “Precisely, all the processes are being gathered by a group of prosecutors led by a prosecutor who knows and at the same time, and who has the knowledge and who has prosecuted this person, so that, the prosecutor will be in charge of producing a result to the country. What I am saying here is that this is not an issue that would remain for us in the possible extradition to the United States, but that we also open a very important scenario to know what is happening and what happens with all the processes that are in progress” stated the Attorney General Francisco Barbosa.
Likewise, he pointed out that the Attorney General’s Office has already provided the Ministry of Justice with the necessary information to move forward with the extradition process of the former leader of Clan del Golfo.
