In order to share experiences and activities about reduction of the supply and demand of drugs, it was held virtually the VII Meeting of the Mixed Commission for Mutual Cooperation for the Prevention of Misuse and Control of the Illegal Traffic of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances between Colombia and Chile.
The Office of the Attorney General was part of the national delegation and discussed with his Chilean counterparts about strategies to fight drug trafficking, money laundering and other related crimes, as well as the weakening of the finances of criminal structures and execution of assets seizure processes.
Likewise, emphasis was put on the importance of strengthening international judicial cooperation and it was highlighted the creation of Joint Investigation Teams (Equipos Conjuntos de Investigación – ECI), as a fundamental, dynamic and effective tool to carry out joint investigations against transnational organized crime.
It should be noted that, in June 2019, a Joint Investigation Team was formed between Colombia, Chile and Ecuador aimed at dismantling an international network involved in drug trafficking. Now, the creation of a new Team, between Colombia and Chile, is being analyzed in order to dismantle an organization involved in trafficking creepy-type marijuana.
