The evidence collected by the Attorney General’s Office allowed the prosecution of Alexander Pretelt Valencia, alias El Cholo, alleged leader of the Clan del Golfo, allegedly responsible for criminal actions in Buenaventura (Valle del Cauca) and Chocó.

According to the investigation, alias El Cholo, allegedly led the Valle front of the aforementioned illegal armed group which commits crimes in Buenaventura and the sector Playa La Barra, Juanchaco and Ladrilleros. For these facts, a specialized prosecutor charged him with aggravated criminal conspiracy. He did not plead guilty to the charges.

The defendant, as the alleged financial leader, would be responsible for ordering extortions to merchants in Bajo Calima sector, activities that also took place in Chocó and sectors of Litoral of San Juan, Baudó and Nuquí. He also allegedly arranged payments for illegal mining exploitation in this area of ​​the Colombian Pacific, and for allowing the exit of drug shipments.

Pretelt Valencia was arrested in an operation carried out by the National Police with support from the Military Gaula in Buenaventura. A judge imposed a prison sentence.
