So far this year, the Branch Office in Valle del Cauca achieved a 97.6% of effectiveness in prosecutions through the detention measures that have been imposed. To date, authorities are pursuing 40 criminal organizations.
The Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, visits the Branch Office in Valle del Cauca. On September 7, he visited the city of Buga accompanied by the Deputy Attorney Martha Janeth Mancera and the Delegate Director on Public Safety, Carmen Torres Malaver, to have a meeting with the Director of that Branch Office and his staff.
The purpose of the visit to monitor the meeting of Paro Civico en Buenaventura and review the observance of the commitments made in the fight against crime in that region, especially in Buga and Buenaventura. The Attorney General also visited the crime laboratory that is located in that city, which is one of the best in the country.
Within the framework of the strategy about prioritizing cases in which crimes affect the public safety, strategy which was developed under the strategic direction of the Attorney General, the Branch Office of Valle del Cauca achieved the prosecution of 171 alleged members of criminal organizations during 2020, 167 of them received a prison sentence.
With the arrests of the people investigated by the CTI and the National Police, the organized crime received a hard blow. 31 criminal structures were dismantled: 8 were involved in the commission of murders, 12 involved in micro-trafficking, 8 in kidnappings and extortion, 2 in theft in all its forms, and another one was involved in crimes against the public administration.
