The Special Investigation Unit of the Office of the Attorney General which works on clearing up murders and intimidation against former combatants of illegal armed groups, as well as against social leaders, charged John Fredy Muñoz Toro, alias’ Tuza’ for aggravated murder and manufacturing, aggravated trafficking and possession of firearms, parts and ammunitions.
This decision was made in the framework of an investigation which is related to the death of the community leader Liliana Patricia Cataño Montoya which took place on October 18, 2017, apparently, due to land claims and due to her work with the community of El Socorro neighborhood in the so-called ‘comuna 13’ of Medellín.
Charges were brought by the Office of the Attorney General before the 39th municipal criminal of Medellín (Antioquia) where the prosecutor accused Cataño of being the alleged perpetrator of the crime.
