As  part  of  the  agreement  between  the  Office  of  the  Attorney  General  and  the  United  States  Marshal  Service-  U.S  Department  of  Justice  related to  cooperation and  search of international  fugitives,  the  members  on  the  technical  investigative corps  (Cuerpo  Técnico  de  investigación  CTI)  arrested Mauricio Hoyos Hernández wanted for extradition for sexual offenses.

The 34-year-old detainee is required to appear before Pitkin County District Court, in Colorado (United States) for sexual abuse of a person with a disability.

The facts took place on April 2, 2017, in the city of Aspen. The victim was a 25-year-old woman from the United States who was defenseless after she was under the influence of alcohol and was allegedly sexually attacked by Hoyos Hernández.

The alleged aggressor fled the United States and returned to Colombia. He was located thanks to the alert of the aforementioned federal agency belonging to the United States Department of Justice and the elements collected by a prosecutor from the Special Directorate against Drug Trafficking.
