Arrests include five people wanted for extradition by the United States. Many people involved were employees at the airports so this way, organizations guaranteed the crossing of cocaine shipments.
An operation coordinated by the Special Directorate against Drug Trafficking of the Office of the Attorney General and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) of the United States allowed to dismantle of a drug trafficking organization that shipped cocaine from Colombia to Central and North American countries.
The actions were carried out within the framework of the so-called ‘La Saga’ operation which was executed simultaneously in Cartagena (Bolívar), Barranquilla (Atlántico), La Guajira and Bogotá.
As a result, 11 people were arrested. Three of them worked at the International Airport Rafael Núñez in Cartagena. Among the arrested, 5 individuals are wanted with a view to extradition by the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York; and 6 are wanted by national authorities.
