The Office of the Attorney General filed charges against Edith Franceny González Agudelo who, by the time of the events, worked in the Mayor´s Office of Quibdó, Chocó. The woman will be prosecuted for the crime of illicit gain.

According to the investigation carried out by a prosecutor of the Special Directorate against Corruption, González Agudelo, who worked as secretary, would have received money from a contractor through endorsed checks amounting to more than 73 million pesos that according to her position, her economic activity and her statements during a questioning do not coincide nor justify the receipt of that money.

The investigation is focused in contracts that were awarded at the end of 2015 and a few months before the mayor’s term of office came to an end. The mayor by that time was Zulia María Mena García who was also investigated for corruption issues and had a preventive detention order in another process.
