Both women and men, victims of gender-based violence or personal injuries, can denounce and undergo specialized medical examinations in the Immediate Reaction Units (URI)*.
Those women who are victims of violence or citizens who report personal injuries may be directly examined by Legal Medicine specialists in the URI of Bogotá where they can also file their complaints.
The above, thanks to an agreement signed between the Attorney General, the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal y Ciencias Forenses) and the District (Departments of Security, Coexistence and Justice (secretarías de Seguridad, Convivencia y Justicia) and Department of Women´s Affairs in Bogotá (Secretaría de la Mujer).
With this forensic and medical assistance, the provision of services in these units will be strengthened through the assessments required by citizens. For this, there will be better equipment and specialized personnel for cases of feminicide and intentional murder.
