Operation against transnational crime
The Office of the Attorney General obtained preventive detention orders for eight alleged members of a drug trafficking organization which designed several methods to conceal drugs in cargo transport in order to take them across the border of Ecuador. Final destinations were Centro America and Unites States.
During hearings ‘Audiencias Concentradas’, a prosecutor belonging to Special Office against Drug Trafficking charged the defendants with drug trafficking, manufacture or drug possession, and criminal conspiracy. He also submitted evidence that would involve the defendants in 18 seizures carried out in Colombia, Ecuador and the United States since 2015, in which about 4 tons of cocaine, more than 30 kilograms of heroin and 120,000 dollars were found. 15 trucks were also immobilized
