The Office of the Attorney General, through its branch office in Santander, presented evidence that led a judge to sentence Christian Tirado Almendrales and Juan Daniel Corzo Jiménez to 17 years and 6 months in prison for their responsibility in the crimes of homicide and the trafficking, manufacture, and possession of firearms or ammunition. Both offenses were considered as aggravated.
The facts took place on October 24, 2024, when the defendants arrived on a motorcycle at Jerusalem neighborhood in Barrancabermeja, searching for a 30‑year‑old man who upon noticing their presence, he tried to hide, but was located by Tirado Almendrales and Corzo Jiménez, who shot him multiple times.
Both men were arrested in March 2025 by virtue of a judicial order. CTI officers and National Police participated in the operation. The evidence presented by prosecutors led the defendants to plead guilty to the charges last September.
Legal remedies can be lodged against this decision.
