At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge sentenced eight people allegedly involved in local drug trafficking in El Poblado and El Jardín sectors of Inírida.

A prosecutor appointed to the branch office in Guainía (Seccional Guainía) charged them with trafficking, manufacturing, or possession of narcotics; and illicit use of personal property or real estate. The defendants did not plead guilty to the charges.

According to the investigation, these individuals were apparently involved in receiving, preparing the doses, and selling the narcotics since last March. They allegedly hid the substances to avoid being detected by authorities and thus collect large sums of money to later purchase more hallucinogens.

During search warrants carried out in the aforementioned areas, the National Police conducted the arrests of Carlos Andrés Rodríguez Ortiz, Luz Verónica Bucury Niño, Renis Rubén Parra Cruz, Carmen Edén Abreu, Osmar Antonio Gamarra Abreu, Diógenes Cundumi González and José Rafael Chipiaje Chipiaje. Francisco Abreu, who was in prison for other offenses, was also informed about the charges.

Authorities seized cell phones, dosing equipment, and cash.
