The victim was attacked with a sharp weapon while crossing a pedestrian bridge in Teusaquillo.
At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge imposed a prison sentence against Julio César Guevara Zambrano for his alleged responsibility in the attack on a cyclist during a theft in Bogotá.
In this regard, a prosecutor appointed to the so-called Unidad de Vida of the branch office in Bogotá (Seccional Bogotá) charged him with aggravated homicide and aggravated theft. He did not plead guilty to the charges.
According to the investigation, on January 25, the victim was riding his bicycle across the bridge located at Calle 26 con Carrera 96 in Teusaquillo area when he was apparently approached by Guevara Zambrano and two other individuals, who blocked his path and threatened him with a sharp weapon.
When he refused to hand over his bicycle, the victim was attacked at least three times, resulting in serious injuries and his subsequent death in a medical center.
Julio César Guevara Zambrano was arrested in Engativá by the National Police according to an arrest warrant.
