The defendant attacked the victim to steal a motorcycle and a cell phone valued at more than 10 million COP.
Based on the evidence obtained by the Attorney General’s Office, Carlos Andrés Moncayo Gómez pleaded guilty, in a preliminary agreement, to the murder of the peace counselor and LGBTIQ+ activist, Deivis Enrique Junco Hernández, which occurred on March 5, 2024, in Lorica (Córdoba).
A judge approved the plea bargain and sentenced him to 17 years in prison for aggravated homicide.
A prosecutor appointed to the Special Investigation Unit (Unidad Especial de Investigación UEI) confirmed that Moncayo Gómez intercepted the victim in Loma de Piedra area in Nueva Granada neighborhood and killed him by mechanical asphyxiation in order to steal a motorcycle and a cell phone valued at more than 10 million pesos.
The attacker was arrested in June 2024 during operations conducted by National Police in Lorica. At the time, he was prosecuted and has been held in prison ever since.
