The investigative work carried out by the Attorney General’s Office made it possible to deal a hard blow to a criminal network called Italia, involved in local drug trafficking in Génova (Quindío).

A prosecutor appointed to the Sectional Office in Quindío charged, according to their level of individual responsibility, nine of its alleged members with aggravated conspiracy to commit crimes; trafficking, manufacture or possession of narcotics and illegal destination of real estate or personal property. They did not plead guilty to the charges.

According to the investigation, Nórida Montenegro Pulgarín would be the leader and was allegedly in charge of supplying illicit substances such as marijuana, bazuco or cocaine that would be sold in properties in La Isla neighborhood, the main park of the municipality and Sedral area.

Apparently, the narcotics were stored at these houses to be sold by other members of the organization.

Germán Montenegro Perdomo, Jhor Leandro Díaz Osorio, Luis Fabián Pulgarín Betancourth, María Yesenia Pulgarín Betancurt, Jhon Jairo Giraldo Rendón, Brahian David Montoya Castillo, Jazmín Rodríguez González and Dairo Alejandro González Pulgarín were allegedly part of the criminal group.

At the request of the Prosecutor’s Office, a judge imposed a prison sentence against all those currently under investigation.
