The defendants apparently engaged in extortion on behalf of Clan del Golfo.
The Attorney General’s Office prosecuted four people, who would be part of the illegal organization La Miel, responsible for multiple extortions of coal mine owners located in the area of Palomos of the municipality of Fredonia (Antioquia).
The decision is related to the foreign citizens Robert José Rincón Moreno, alias Lupi, and Julio Bersy Delgado Delgado, alias Bebé; and the Colombian citizen Enilson Marín Suaza, alias Pigui, who were charged with conspiracy to commit crimes and extortion, both aggravated.
Valentina Vega Lopera, for her part, was charged with extortion since on at least seven occasions, she allegedly lent her bank account to receive money derived from illegal activities.
The investigation
A prosecutor appointed to the Sectional Office in Antioquia found that between September 2022 and September 2024, the defendants asked their victims for monthly payments between 600,000 and 800,000 COP to allow them to work in the area.
The defendants were arrested by Gaula of the National Police in the municipalities of Fredonia and Bello (Antioquia). None pleaded guilty to the charges.
The evidence provided by the Office of the Attorney General allowed the judge to impose a prison sentence against the three men, and house arrest for the woman.
An arrest warrant was issued for the Venezuelan citizen Albenis José Moreno Moreno, alias El Guajiro, alleged coordinator of the criminal gang, for the same facts and offenses.
