Fidencio Erley Maya Tapia would be responsible for the installation of several explosives during an armed confrontation with the Army in the rural area of Cumbitara (Nariño).
The Attorney General’s Office charged Fidencio Erley Maya Tapia with aggravated criminal conspiracy and terrorism. He is one of the alleged leaders of the so-called Franco Benavides structure of Estado Mayor Central of FARC dissidents, which commits crimes in the southwest area of the country.
The charges brought against him are related to the handling and launching of explosive devices during an armed confrontation between the illegal group and units of the 23rd Brigade of the National Army on September 22, in the rural area of Cumbitara (Nariño).
The investigation led by a prosecutor of the Directorate specialized in the fight against Criminal Organizations shows that, as a result of this action, a woman died and two professional soldiers were injured.
Therefore, a judge imposed a prison sentence.
The defendant was arrested in a joint action of the Office of the Attorney General, the National Police and the Army in a property located at Belén neighborhood, in Cumbitara. Three cell phones and five million pesos in cash were seized in the operation.
