The 52-year-old former mayor of Vigía del Fuerte municipality (Antioquia), Wilson Antonio Chaverra González was charged by the office of the Attorney General with aggravated criminal conspiracy aimed at financing armed groups.
The investigation that is conducted by a specialized prosecutor in Antioquia was opened based on information provided by the former ringleader Fredy Rendón Herrera, alias el Alemán, to the Office of the Special Office of Transitional Justice. The self-confessed militiaman stated that former municipal governor gave money and fuel to the so-called Élmer Cárdenas Bloc of the Self-Defense Forces of Colombia every month. This group committed crimes in the area of Urabá and the Department of Chocó.
