A judge imposed a prison sentence on Miguel Ángel Orozco Castellares, as the alleged perpetrator of aggravated extortion.
The facts under investigation took place on May 23, 2014 in Divino Niño neighborhood in Valledupar (Cesar) when Orozco Castellares received an envelope, allegedly related to the payment of an extortion by the owner of a drugstore who was the victim.
According to the investigation, the man had to collect the payment of two million pesos in order to not throw an explosive against the commercial establishment. It was established that the financial demand was made through a phone call in the name of a paramilitary group that has its criminal activity in that area.
The arrest of the suspect was carried out by officers of the Technical Investigation Corps and Gaula of Army, on September 4 in the Valledupar – La Mesa road (Cesar).
During the hearings, the defendant did not plead guilty to the charges.
