After committing the crime, the alleged perpetrator stole the victim’s belongings.
The evidence provided by the Attorney General’s Office allowed a judge to sentence René Iguita Carrillo Arrepiche to 50 years in prison. The decision was made after the Office of the Attorney demonstrated the participation of the person in the murder and robbery of a man on November 25, 2020 on the road from Puerto López to Puerto Gaitán (Meta).
That day, the convicted man arrived at a public establishment located at kilometer 60 of the aforementioned route, where he shot the victim twice. During his escape, the man stole a bag with six million COP.
Carrillo Arrepiche was arrested on December 2020 by the National Police in Puerto Gaitán. The Office of the Attorney General brought him to justice for homicide, qualified theft and possession of weapons, all aggravated, and he was sent to the municipal prison.
The convicted man was denied the substitute penalties of the suspension of the sentence and house arrest.
